Solving the mystery about “cellulite” orange skin.

¿Why do I have cellulite?

Cellulite is a condition that affects around 90% of women and 10% of men. It consists of the excessive accumulation of water, grease and cell debris under the skin, which creates an irregular appearance and an “orange peel” texture generally in the abdomen, hips, thighs, arms and back.

But why is it more frequent in women than in men?

One of the determining factors is the action of estrogens or female hormones, which influence the amount of fat a woman’s skin can storage. A high concentration of this hormone in the blood, alters the functioning of blood vessels and fat cells in the skin affecting the production of collagen and elastin, proteins that provide firmness, elasticity and softness to the dermis, better known as the visible layer of the skin.

On the other hand, testosterone or men’s hormones, are responsible for accelerating metabolism, promoting fat burning and the ability of building muscle mass. Additionally, men’s skin is much thicker than women’s skin, meaning that, even if they have the condition, it is possible that it is hidden under the dermis.

¡It is possible to significantly improve the appearance of cellulite!
Although cellulite is a skin disorder that cannot be eliminated completely, there is good news for those interested in improving its appearance at a high percentage.

“Cellulite can affect both thin people and those who suffer from overweight, because it is a metabolic condition that depends on the ability of each body to absorb nutrients and eliminate waste”

Additional determining factors …

  • Age:
  • Over the years, skin loses collagen and elasticity, which makes it thinner and less helpful to hide cellulite.

  • Hereditary predisposition:
  • If someone in your family has this condition, it is more likely that you will also develop it.

  • Sedentarism:
  • Exercise stimulates blood flow, circulation and a healthy elimination of toxins; a sedentary lifestyle, will only favor the accumulation of fat tissue, liquids and cellulite.

  • Alcohol and tobacco:
  • They dehydrate the skin and therefore make it thinner.

  • Excessive consumption of sugar
  • And other foods such as starches and fats that are synthetized and absorbed as sugar, to be stored as fat deposits.
